"Gone Baby Gone". Watch it.

I'm seconding FinnFan's post of a few weeks ago: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=7653262&mesg_id=7653262

What a great movie. Dennis Lehane is one of my favorite writers anyway, and this adaptation by Ben Affleck is spot on. The opening montage of Dorchester, the casting, direction, plot, everything was right on.

I'm a big Coen Brothers fan, but I liked this movie better than 'NCFOM' and thought it the better picture.

My only quibble - I'm glad I saw it on DVD because I had to stop and rewind many times because I couldn't understand the Baastin accents the first time around. :)

1. Waffling whether to watch it or not.
The Afflicted-Upon-Us Brothers turned me away from it. But I'll throw in my Netflix queue for later.

13. There's nothing overtly Affleck-ted about it.
Since I've never seen Casey before, he did not bug me.

2. i really like it and i kind of saw the end coming a bit before it happened but still, it was a good
twist. that was my "hey who turned on the heavy" movie week, "Gone baby gone" "there will be blood" and "No country for old men". All really good films.

I don't know if you've seen "Into the wild" yet but i saw it this week and i thought it was a good movie, the shots were beautiful and even though it was sad it was also kind of uplifting.

4. The second and smarter adaptation of a Lehane novel, and it was very good.

5. It was a lot better than I thought it would be......
and I'd highly recommend reading the book as well.

In fact, the series from which the book was lifted is really, really good, Lehane is one of my
favorite authors as well.

9. My daughter bugged me until I finally watched it.
I admit I was prejudiced against the Affleck Brothers. My mistake. Ben Affleck did an outstanding job directing. One of the best movies I've seen recently.
