Time to reveal your inner nerd/geek |
|
List something you've done that can be considered nerdy/geeky.
When I was learning the periodic table in school, my friend and I passed notes written in the long form name of the elements. To decode the notes, you'd need to figure out the abbreviations.

Love em, love em, love em!
I look at maps of places I've never been, as well as places I have.
I like to figure out alternative ways to get somewhere (especially around here; sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on I-5 is not my idea of a good time).
I have several huge atlases, lots of area maps, and Thomas Guides. I've gotten maps for birthdays and Christmas gifts, because my friends and family know I'm a map geek. I think my nephew inherited that part of geekiness from me; I gave him an interactive globe for Christmas, and he went bonkers over it.
Some of my friends call me The Map Queen.

We bought a canoe today, and can't decide whether to name it NCC-1701 or Pemberley.

8. My computers run Debian. |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 08:20 PM by hunter
I built my first computer from scratch, using an 1802 cpu. It looked sorta like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COSMAC_ELFExcept mine had an expansion slot. It was sweet. There's a pretty emulator at http://incolor.inetnebr.com/bill_r/computer_simulators.htmAnd more links at http://www.cosmacelf.com/links.htmI also still like to play with my Atari 800 machines, although mostly these days they are virtual machines living on my Debian Boxes. http://atari800.sourceforge.net

9. I wrote a sprite gaming engine using Visual basic 6 just to prove it could be done. |
|
It can. Pushed thousands and thousands of sprites in a tight loop no problem.
I've also bought comic books, hardcover.
I've been to 'chiptunes' concerts.
I read science, history and math books for fun.
I collect antique maps.
I still have my first and second edition D&D books.

I flaunt it all the time on here - I'm a regular D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) player.
