wow, i cannot believe it's been 23 years and how much she didn't get to see. She would have so enjoyed her granddaughters.

1. My Mum never got to see her great granddaughter ..
 .. Time goes by so quickly but it really doesn't fully heal does it?

3. I think she does know, on some level
Not sure what you believe, but I think your mom knows and watches her grandchildren, and enjoys. And I am sure she knows you are thinking about her tonight.

5. I imagine she's enjoying them from a distance...
or maybe from a closeness, since she's alive in your heart.:hug::hug:

12. I've heard that losing a parent can force a kid to grow up faster than usual...
Did you haveto help take care of your father?

I'll never forget when I was 12, and my mom had to go into the hospital for about a week, and took another week to recover at home. My dad could not deal with what he termed "woman's work". I did all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc...

13. no, my parent's got divorce when i was 5 and while he did send child support checks
he was awol and my sister who is 4 years older was away at college and would stay with my Dad when she came home, better stuff at dad's house! what saved me really was in home hospice care, they took really care of my mom and i was there when she took her final breath, my father and sister still haven't dealt with it and quite frankly thats on them. Incidentally i live 3,000 miles away from my family---there is a reason for that, i love them but it's just better this way. Sometimes my sister will call me and wax poetic about Mom, kind of her guilt off loading system and i won't have it, i did all that already, i was there and they weren't.

14. The anniversary of my mother's death is this week too..
...and my mother never saw her one grandchild, my niece, who was named after her.

I'm not sure about you, but I never imagined the pain could remain so intense after all this time. Next, year, in fact, I will be the age my mother was when she died.
