Check me out
http://www.quitmeter.org/main/page/Tobin

Now excuse me while I have some donuts and coffee and sunflower seeds and lifesavers and chewing gum. I've put on about 3 pounds so far, but I think a little extra weight is going to be worth it. And, besides, it's summer. If I walk down to the neighborhood basketball court I can probably get a game with the neighbor kids and that weight will come right off.

1. My dear Droopy!
Oh, most excellent!

You are to be congratulated at your continued success!

The weight will come off, of course...

Though it might be worth a little struggle to not put it on in the first place!

Still...

You'll have more energy with the cigs no longer part of you!

Keep it going!

2. Thanks Peggy
I'd go bonkers without my little treats to myself. And, no, I can't just snack on celery and carrots like they tell you to on the anti-smoking sites :puke: So exercise is my only real option.

3. Now, we can't have you going bonkers!
Enjoy your snacks!

I couldn't eat just celery and carrots either...

Exercise will work just fine!

8. Thanks, lost. I AM feeling better
My smoker's cough is almost completely gone.

I've got sunflower seeds and Lifesavers right now. They aren't too bad on the waistline. But I'll look into that low calorie popcorn. I like popcorn.

9. Congrats!
I am so proud of you. I know it's hard. I've tried to quit over and over. Just recently I managed two days.

And what's 3 pounds? Nothing.

Keep up the good work!

Khash.

10. Thank you
I don't know how you feel about psychiatric meds, but I know of one that has helped me a great deal on this quitting smoking adventure. I've been taking bupropion for a few years now for depression. It turns out that bupropion is the generic for Wellbutrin and Zyban, two drugs commonly prescribed to smokers for smoking cessation. The drug has helped me a great deal. The cravings weren't near as intense this time and it seems like the withdrawl symptoms weren't as bad either. The worst withdrawl symptom I had was that I felt kind of weak sometimes. That passed after about a week. All withdrawl symptoms are gone in 2 weeks usually and the worst are over after 4 days. From there on out it's mostly just a head game you have to play with yourself.

11. As a psych
I have mixed feelings about meds. But I know a lot of people for whom Wellbutrin help them stop smoking. It seems to reduce the craving for another nic fix and also reduces withdrawal symptoms.

Khash.

I hope the quitmeter helps you! I'm going to send it to my sister - she has been quitting cigarettes for the past ten years, poor baby. Anything to help her...
