Update on Bullwinkle925
I talked to both her friend Marilyn and her daughter Erin.

Marilyn said they were at Sue's house getting ready to leave around 1:30 for the city for Marilyn's softball game. Sue sat down on her front steps saying she just didn't feel right, and her chest was tight. At 3:00 she didn't feel any better, so they went to the emergency room in Castro Valley, and she was admitted. They had trouble getting the IV in and had to keep trying. What fun!

Erin said they decided to keep Sue overnight and do a stress test tomorrow. Again, the EKG was okay, and her blood work was all right except for a slightly elevated potassium.

I'm trying not to freak out and keep telling myself everything will be okay. I love my sister so much and don't want anything to ever happen to her.

Thanks for your good wishes.

3. I'm glad she was admitted.
From what you said, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't some stress reaction or panic attack.

That happened to me twice (and yes, it's scary), but it's ALWAYS smart to get checked out.

Best to Bullwinkle.

4. Thanks
I'm sure that was scary for you. It's scary to me because she eats so well and takes such good care of herself. Her friend said she wasn't short of breath - just had chest tightness. I'm sitting here trying not to freak out.

10. I know, and your feelings are very understandable, also.
Your sister has been through some very tough changes over the past year or so; having a physical reaction is not surprising.

Good vibes to all of you, DTBK. :grouphug:

12. I hope she is ok. she was lucky to get admitted
Normally , they don't admit people with normal EKG and Blood Tests. They should though

13. I think because of her age and that this was the first incident of this type they admitted her
She's a very healthy and young-looking 58. She does have high BP - it's a family thing. I haven't developed it yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if I have it someday.

Thanks for your good wishes.

17. She said she wasn't going to tell Erin about her tattoo
But Erin said she did, and they were laughing about it last night, with Sue telling Erin to be careful so Sue wouldn't have to add her name to the tattoo. Maybe her body is reacting to the stress of getting the tattoo? Oh, probably not - that's crazy talk.

She said the stress test appeared to go well, but they're waiting to see the doctor. Sue is anxious to get out of there. I KNEW she should have stayed in Texas with us!

26. Hope she feels better soon
I hope they asked her if she had been on a plane recently.

My daughter went to the emergency room with pain in her shoulder and chest and she couldn't breath because of the pain
Doc asked her a bunch of questions including any plane travel recently and she said yes, she had been home 2 days
he took an xray and she had blood clots on her lungs... they traveled from her legs... while she was in the hosp. there were 3 more admits for the SAME thing...
not as uncommen as you think.

Please give her our best wishes and virtual hugs....
