How did this bunny with a pancake on its head get become the symbol for the inane?

Where did this fad come from? It could have been a million things. Why a bunny with a pancake? There are some things on the internet that I must have missed. I am so not in the cool club.

I first saw that photo with the following text above and below:

I have no idea what you are talking about

So here is a bunny with a pancake on its head

Just a goofy thing. :shrug:

But as for me - simple things for simple minds. LOLCats are my Calgon (and only people of a certain age will get that reference).

6. That rabbit is Oolong

and his owner put pictures of him balancing things on his head (not just pancakes)on the internet. Oolong and his owner lived in Japan.

I am not sure if someone else made the slogan "I have no idea what you are talking about, so here is a rabbit with a pancake on its head", or if someone else did.

Oolong died in 2003. I think his owner called them 'head acts, or head tricks', something like that. I first got him in an email around 1999.
