I just found out a friend bought a new Mercedes |
|
I am completely jealous. I'm too cheap to buy a new car, but I want one so bad. And I'm not a car guy. But the car is sooo beautiful. Sigh.

5. Why don't you ask God for one, like Janis Joplin did? |
|
And tell him it has great social and political import, for good measure. :P

6. I completely understand |
|
I never get car envy--don't give a flying you-know-what about what people drive (me or anybody else). I have an 8 1/2-year-old Jeep Wrangler that's seen better days, but my butt has molded the driver's seat just the way I like it, and I know all its ins and outs and pings and boops. Then one day a couple of weeks ago I parked next to a shiny new Mercedes--sky blue, woodgrain interior, chrome dual exhaust, and I just went...WANT. :wtf:

they're made like crap nowadays. In 5 years, he'll be wondering why the hell all the servos need replacing.

Their quality and reliability is poor, and luxury cars have hefty depreciation. And they don't exactly sip fuel.

the Germans have loaded down their cars with so much technology and needless electronic fluff it isn't even funny...only Porsche remains (semi-)faithful to their performance mission....

19. I wish someone would make a car like the 2002 again. |
|
That's the car I want to die in. That or an early 3-series. Don't know what everyone sees in nav systems and heated and cooled seats and steering wheels. It's all junk to me. But I'm odd. ;)

510 hp, can only be one of a couple. That's not a "want new car" jealousy any more than it would be if my buddy bought a Gallardo. And, at $130k, I'd take the Lambo.

He didn't like the paddle shifters. I told him he was a fool. That is about the sexiest car out there.

he made the right choice. It's sexy, yes. Very much so, beautiful auto. And I do love the Italian supercars. However, it's a Maserati. If he has a second car to drive while the Mas is in the shop, then great. Maserati hasn't quite caught up to the Gallardo/Ferrari 599 crowd yet, having a rocket that runs every day.
Plus, AMG is one hell of a badge to have on the boot.
So, I was right? Good on me, then.
You should ask to be pilot. Over and over. Gun to the head kind of "let me drive, dammit!!" sort of thing.

13. The only mercedes that I would consider today |
|
would be the E-320 Bluetec (diesel). Great performance and it's rated 32mpg highway which is where I do most of my driving.

17. I highly recommend the Mercedes SUV. |
|
It's the best car I've ever owned. I had a couple of Honda SUVs (also very good) and a Subaru wagon before this one. The Subaru went like hell in the snow; it was terrific in deep snow. We haven't had a "bad" winter since getting the Mercedes, though. The Hondas weren't that great on ice (what is!?), but they had a lot of room in them and were very reliable.
I haul all my school stuff (I travel between buildings) in it during the week, and the dogs and all their dog show stuff on the weekends. It's really comfortable for traveling and not toooo bad on gas. I really love it. What don't you like about it?
