1. Absolutely love it! One of the most intelligent and creative shows in a long time.
Stewie, of course, is my favorite. And I like Meg.

5. I think it's absolutely hilarious. And I'd have to say Peter, Stewie, and Brian are in a
three-way tie for my favorite character. It's impossible to choose.

8. Herbert, the elderly pedophile obsessed with Chris.
Mostly because of that one musical scene where he sings "Somewhere That's Green"

13. Not as much as I used to. Now they've just given up and do the side-tracks
the Mexican wedding in the beginning of last nights episode, it ate up 30 seconds for a racist visual which could've been over in 2 seconds. But no, they've got to read off all the names, slowly, and then play the organ music.

They're lazy.

The same people are not lazy with American Dad, which is 10 times better

16. Since you asked, not really any more
I find it to he too nihilistic for even my tastes.

I started to get pissed when he picked on Margot Kidder. It's one thing to make jokes about the mentally ill. It's another thing alltogether to make jokes about a specific person with a mental illness.

Being a little bipolar myself I took it a little personally and thought it was a cheap shot.

And then they made fun of Dana Plato's suicide and I haven't watched since.

19. They had two of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.
The mustang joke from the first season (Peter says he had to rent a Mustang, referring to replacing his car, and then they show him trying to put gas in the horse--funnier than hell!).

The Star Wars spoof. I laughed my ass off.

It probably says something that perhaps my favorite character in all of television these days is -- a talking dog. I don't know what, but it says something. :eyes:

and as impossible as it seems, the talking dog is much more realistic than the talking baby

It's gonna rain!!!

Still like Family Guy, although the quality has dipped significantly since it came back from cancellation. But unlike South Park (another once funny show long gone downhill), it still has funny jokes to maintain itself despite the subpar storylines.

34. Few modern shows have the ability to make me laugh so hard I cry and gasp for breath
In particular, the contest where Peter, Stewie, Brian and Chris drink ipecac - "whoever throws up last gets a pie" I believe was the prize. They pushed that gag beyond gross to a weird place in humor that few dare go. In fact, any of the gags where they turn the joke into the uncomfortable experience of watching a joke go on too long are my favorites. The classic example is the one in season one where Peter bumps his funny bone and gasps for 30 seconds.

Favorite character is probably Brian, although there's something about Cleveland that's really funny.

36. I find it tiresome. The jokes are pretty predictable - at its best it's like a bad Simpsons episode
When The Simpsons isn't funny, it's usually because the writers have quit writing the characters as people and are just using the characters as props for jokes about sex, booze, drugs, or some slapstick comedy. When I've watched Family Guy, it's always like that, plus some cliche jabs at infamous celebrities. Like every week, the dad from Family Guy remembers that time he was a personal assistant to Elizabeth Taylor (flashback to fatty gag) or to Brian Williams (flashback to vain, stupid news anchor gag) or to Paris Hilton (flashback to slutty idiot gag).

37. C'mon now
Peter visits Sal's, the local video store, to grab some porn, but finds that Sal's has been replaced by something called Lackluster Video (obvious Blockbuster reference, of course). When Peter asks the new clerk if he can go check out "Sal's back room, y'know, the room with movies of naked people fornicatin' for the cameras and stuff comes out," he is informed no such room exists anymore.

"Lackluster video takes a strong moral stand against pornography and non-Christians," says the clerk.

After a bit of back-and-forth, Peter erupts: "You know, that really grinds my gears. Where in the Bible does it say a man can't fire off a few knuckle-children in the privacy of his own neighbor's living room because I don't have a DVD player? Well, I don't know, because the Bible is too long to read."

Overhearing this is Tom Tucker, anchor of the local TV news program (who also came in seeking porn from the back room, specifically "women on women or anything with an amputee"). After hearing Peter go off, Tucker says, "Hey, that was quite a rant. We're looking for someone to go on about petty, nonsensical annoyances to replace our 'Spotlight On The Middle East' segment." Peter gets the gig, does three shows before getting fired, and finishes his last broadcast by telling America to go fuck itself.

So.

That above bit was maybe 30 seconds of the show. In that 30 seconds, it slapped Blockbuster, slapped religious intolerance, and slapped the news media's lack of Mideast coverage.

"Knuckle-children" was, I must say, a frikkin' scream.

To each their own, I guess. :)
