Is there such a thing as brandy extract?
For the Brownie's International Day, our country is Turkey, and the cake calls for 2 teaspoons of brandy.

We do not have alcohol in the house and I do not wish to purchase any brandy for the cake.

2. I take it back - I guess there is. I'll be darned. I bet it's fucking hard to find, though.

And I can't think of anything that might be a good substitute, except other alcohols, or possibly Vanilla Extract, maybe thinned with some water so that that vanilla isn't overwhelming.

Maybe Kielbasa?

5. I've been here
approximately the same amount of time as you, so it's one I missed.

7. It was a nice Rachael Ray flamewar from years ago
when Rachael was cooking with Chorizo and said if you don't have it, you can substitute Kielbasa.

Someone took major issue with that, and a pretty serious flamewar immediately ensued. I remember matcom and I were in it, but I don't remember anyone else.

6. I have almond extract
I may borrow some brandy from my co-leader (we are all making this Turkish cake) We need 500 bite sized servings for the event.

8. In honor of Turkey, you should substitute it with raki....
...in honor of Mustafa Kemal. Of course it led to his death by cirrhosis of the liver, but never-the-less, if you are honoring Turkey, you should honor Ataturk,...:patriot:

10. Don't they sell little "airline size" bottles at the liquor store?
I know the one I go to has tons of little bottles of stuff up near the register. Don't know that I've ever seen brandy but I would bet that it'd be cheaper than a bottle of extract. Lot of people around these parts drink brandy with Coke. The thought of that is sort of nauseating to me but it's pretty popular.

11. When I used to drink, I never liked brandy
Brandy Coke sounds just hideous.
