So who else has ever done this.
You are sleeping on your back with your head turned slightly to the left. Your right forearm is on your head and your fingers are hanging down from your flopping hand about 1 inch in front of your eyes. Then you wake up, see the fingers and don't realize they are yours so you jump up all startled and scared because you think someone is trying to kill you.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

This is 100% true. It's happened about 4 times to me in my life.

1. My dear Maraya1969...
I have to say that I have never done this...

But I don't sleep on my back!

You were obviously very soundly asleep, sweetie!

:hi:

2. There was thread around here last night I think
and two truckers had the same kind of "I'm gonna die!" experience that you had. The "dream" happened upon awakening. They pulled off to the side of the road and parked right behind another rig. They just leaned on the steering wheel to get a power nap and when they opened their eyes later they were in the drivers seat, hands on the wheel, and just about to ram another truck 10ft. dead ahead of them. Whew!

I'm glad to say I don't remember having any waking nightmares like you and those guys have had. I can't imagine coming from complete stillness and rest, and immediately go right into complete terror. That's a hell of a way to begin the day. :scared:

3. Sorta kinda
I have problems with my back (long story) and when I sleep I rub it. And sometimes I will wake up with both arms twisted behind me and think someone has tied me up. It's scary but only lasts a moment.

Khash.

4. Not quite, but...
I had "The Hag" (sleep paralysis) once and realized that the figure that looke to be sitting on my chest was actually the silhouette of my nose upon gaining full consciousness.

9. "The Hag" is "sleep paralysis? I've had situations where I wake up but
can't move my body. It's terrifying.

10. Yeah, It usually occurs just before fully awakening or just before fully falling asleep.
I've only experienced it once, but it was not fun.

6. Just because they're your fingers doesn't mean they're not trying to kill you!
Don't let down your guard!

Seriously, I think something like that may have happened to me once. Dim recollection.
