What in the world is "cash gifting"? |
|
I made a new "friend" who is trying to get me into something called "cash gifting." I Googled it only to find nothing objective on the subject. Just bunches of websites with videos of men opening Fed Ex letters full of cash, and they try to get you into their downline too. This "friend" of mine seems to think she will have all her debt paid off by the end of the year doing this.
Sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. Is it even legal?
I really hate it when people only want to be friends so they can try to make money off you...

6. I got a weird one this morning |

From a rich elderly woman who's soon to die without family or heirs. Apparently I helped her across the street once, and now she wants to give me her fortune.
After that, I won't need your stinking $20.

4. No idea. Is "gift" a verb now? |
|
So many nouns are verbs now. It is hard to keep up.

I never heard of it either, but it's supposed to be rampant on the internets and in some church groups.
I guess that's what I get for not going to church! :hide:

We routinely had inquiries about "gifted shares" of this or that mutual fund. In such cases, some amount of share is "gifted" to a church or non-profit.
I found the verb-cum-adjective somewhat distasteful, however, and wouldn't likely use it myself in other contexts.

8. When I took taxation in law school it was "donated" not "gifted." |
|
Also it was "a gift" not "a donation" when discussing a free transfer of assets.

12. Be your own "captain" or "admiral" or "grand poo bah" |
|
The key to winning in these things is to start your own. That way you're on top of the pyramid right away and don't have to pay/bet to join. If you join later, a portion of the available suckers have already joined, leaving fewer potential suckers left to join. If you're first, all the possible suckers are still out there looking for a sucker bet.
So here's the deal: I'm the "grand poo bah" of the "Winner's Circle Network." As soon as you send me $20, you become a member and can recruit new members. Your new recruits send $20 to the top of the pyramid (me), and then they can recruit new members. That is when you start to win--when the pyramid is three levels deep, new members delete the top name and all the other names move up a level. Top level is "grand poo bah," next level is "poo bah," and the bottom level is "poo." The "poo" level loses because all available suckers have already been lured in.
When your scheme gets deep enough that you get dropped off the top, then you start a new one. Say, the "Prosperity for All Club of Growth." Top level is Chairman of the Board, next level is "CEO," bottom level is "manager." (None of these schemes ever have a "worker bee" level.) Send me $100. The "poo" level losers from the previous venture will be eager to "get in on the groundfloor" as "CEOs" or "managers" of your new scheme, since they lost out last time; but this time, being on the groundfloor, they'll be winners. Send me $100. Cuz you know this time you'll be a winner.
As soon as you get bumped off as Chairman of the Board, you start the Opportunity Club, with you as "fleet admiral." ...
