Baseball watchers...how much trouble do you think Kazuhito Tadano...
Is going to have after the whole 'gay porn' incident?

I'm not much into baseball but I do feel kind of bad for the guy. He says that he only did it because he needed the money and I believe that to be true. (OK, I admit it...I saw the video...he did NOT look real comfortable there...)

Do you think they'll forgive and forget and just let the guy play on his merit or do you think he's going to be in for some rough times?

2. Your thread is not dead . I saved it lol .
I not know about the incident until reading your post. I don't think anyone should be branded with a scarlett letter " P " for anything that they did in the past . Especially if he needed the money . If he can continue to walk high today , then leave him alone . :)

3. He is going to catch hell, I'm afraid.
I think some of his teammates will be tolerant if the guy plays well, but some of them will never like him or respect him. His opponents will probably rib him some. But the fans...on the road...not gonna be pretty.

I believe the guy is telling the truth. I hope it's not too rough for him, but I'm guessing there will be some crap flying, at least in the first season.

5. Telling the truth...
I, too, believe he was telling the truth. He looked very uncomfortable and laughed a lot like he was nervous. I honestly believe he did it because he needed the money and they probably paid him more than he could have made doing other things (which is how people get enticed into these things in the first place).

4. no one seems to know about it
I just scoured some team forums and no one is talking about it at all.

Once it surfaces his career will be over. The US Cant handle the thought of a gay ballplayer, let alone a gay porn star ballplayer.

He will be hounded mercilessly. My opinion.

6. No one knows...
It was in many newspapers and in some sports magazine, too. I'd like to think that they aren't talking about it because they don't care but I've never held out that much hope for sports figures.

8. no its not because they dont care
I am guessing its because he is a no name player in the off season. I am a huge baseball fan I didnt see it until I saw your thread.

I would say you are holding the average fan in too high esteem. When they discover this its going to get ugly.

7. *sigh*. There's so much homophobia in professional sports.
Even with his explanation (which I find credible), there's no way he's going to survive this.

11. The Story
You can read the full article here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4080528/

But the gist of it is: He was young, in college and trying to play baseball and he and his team needed the money. So he got talked into making a gay porn film.

14. thanks
I also think the "i Needed money so I did gay porn" defense probably won't hold up too well.

I personally dont care, but you are going to hear that ridiculed pretty relentlessly.

I just want my team to win. Not much else matters.

16. For the record
Lots of popular "actors" in gay porn are "gay for pay". Some do straight porn as well. Some have gone on to mainstream acting careers. There are even pictures online of he-man Chuck Connors doing a very early gay porn film!

I think how well this guy does in the American baseball scene will really depends on how well he shakes off the mockery. If he looks like he doesn't care what people say, and he plays well, it will all die down.

And who was it who said he'd seen the video? Where can I see it?!

17. I've heard of Gay for Pay
and there isn't a straight American Male who believes that. that's what he is up against.

18. That's because
...most folks can't distinguish between what you do and what you are. Do they believe "gay until graduation"?

19. that was my point
its not right, but its true.

If you walked into the Baseball tavern in boston and announced my name is Sam and I do gay porn for pay only, I'm really straight. The response might be:

And I'm really the Queen of England, I pretend to be a rural Mail carrier for the excercise.

Thats the nature of the American Sports fan.

Whats "gay until graduation?

20. I think he means...
He did the gay porn to pay for school. Once school was over he didn't do it again (although he said he only did it once). Thus, gay until graduation.

Though I could be wrong. I think it happened once before.

21. Gay until graduation
Lots of folks experiment in college and might even identify as gay or bisexual and socialize with gay or bisexual groups, but once they're out of college and in a career, they're straight, dammit, and don't you dare believe anything else!

I myself think sexuality is a fluid thing (no jokes please!) and no one has to fit into any one category or needs to identify the same way all his/her life.

Having said that, what kind of a fool would walk into a baseball tavern in Boston and announce he does gay porn?

22. it was hypothetical
the argument was about baseball fans and how they would "deal" with a gay ballplayer.

not well.

I was trying to find it but wasn't successful. I think some players will discriminate but others will treat him with resepct. The fans are going to have a field day though
