Anyone remember "Trilogy of Terror?"
Here's one doll I WON'T be buying.

The two best things about Dan Curtis' Trilogy of Terror? Karen Black...and that wicked, pint-sized Zuni doll. I'd be lying if I said that thing didn't invoke a nightmare or two in me as a kid. Looking back now, as an adult, I can gaze at its hideous needlepoint teeth and chuckle, er, or maybe not.

Majestic Studios (responsible for last year's classy Jeepers Creepers and Return of the Fly action figures) is bringing that little Zuni bastard back in a big way this September.

They've informed us that they're working closely with Trilogy director Dan Curtis to create the ultimate Zuni action figure, most likely similar in size to past Majestic toys (12-inches).

1. I do.
Made me look under beds and avoid standing too close to a door.

Nasty little ankle slasher!

2. That doll scared me to death as kid!

In fact, recently I was in a store with a bunch of nutcrackers for sale, and they reminded me of that movie, so I rented it. It's still pretty creepy, but the first two vignettes are not that hot.

Long live Karen Black, queen of '70s TV movies!

6. After a little research, the earwig story must have been a "Night Gallery"
Still scared me, tho.

7. Wasn't the earwig removed but it was found to have laid eggs?
I vaguely remember that one. Night Gallery was always hit or miss but the good ones always called for a change of Garanimals! :-)

3. Those dolls were the inspiration for Diablo II's jungle motif
And as anyone that has played Diablo II knows, they were nutz.

5. I could never watch Karen Black's
movies without thinking back to the "Trilogy" - the only thing that scared me as much was the first "Alien". Couldn't sleep for weeks after that without nightmares.

9. Really creepy!
The doll wasn't done with stop-action, rather moved on a track disguised by the carpet, which had a slot cut to accommodate it. The whole thing was happening real time, which made it very effective.
