|
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 09:45 PM by NightTrain
These were the first ten N.O. R&B acts that I thought of. As usual, if I inadvertently left out your fave, please write it in!

9. I don't know why I love you, but I do. Great record from 1961! |
|
And let us not forget the song that gave ol' Clarence his "Frogman" nickname: "Ain't Got No Home!" :bounce:

I LOVE the Meters (Young Girls are my Weakness was KICKIN' when I was a kid)
Neville Brothers are the best ever.
Dr. John is Da Bomb but not as consistent.
The other s all rock.
This is torture Nighttrain.
But I did see War with Eric Burden at Tipitina's on the way to Costa Rica once.
Man did I have an awfully good time (way too much fun).
And after a day at the Audobon Zoo.
Buckwheat Zydeco is also way cool, but only marginally R&B. But serious Mardi Gras Chickalapas. Same with the Brass Band who plays at Jackson Square.
Oh well.
Happy MARDI GRAS NEXT WEEK EVERYBODY!
CARNAVALE!!!
Time to break out BLack Orpheus for some serious music and rythmns

I have a hard time picking, especially with The Meters and The Neville Brothers in the mix.
Walter "Wolfman" Washington is pretty cool. King Floyd too.

Are a kickass group for sure. I met them at a festival in Bricktown(OKC) a few years back. The group I was playing with played right before them.
I have the "Funk is in The House" album and want to get more discs of them. I really want the "Blue Moon Rising" album. Their version of Bill Withers "Use Me" kicks major ass.:nuke:
