So many have said that LOTR was a story for boys. Many "girls" have loved the books, but having Fran & Philippa on the creative team really helped expand the appeal. Let PJ create his cool special effects, giant battles and lots of scary monsters. The ladies will round out the story with emotion & human (or elvish) interest.

And they'll cast the hotties. Viggo, of course. Young Orlando has also been mentioned. Let's include Sean Bean & Karl Urban, as well...

As a straight man, I'm happy to say that I think Peck is gorgeous. As is Viggo Mortensen, and Clint Eastwood in the early '70s (around the time of Play Misty For Me and High Plains Drifter). Johnny Depp spends a lot of energy trying to look weird, but he can't help it---he's go IT. Also, there's never been a more charismatic and witchy-cool rock star than Jimmy Page. As far as rockers go, Hendrix had the ultimate vibe, when he wasn't stoned off his ass, which was far too frequently, alas.
