Poll question: Drip versus Pump coffee makers
I've read that a new, personal coffee maker that uses a pump and pressure will be coming out in May for around $60. Supposedly, it will be a lot better than the drip coffee makers we all have around.

So...which is better for brewing up some java and watching late-night election returns? Drip or pressure? Your comments welcome!

2. I still like the Melitta cone.
Fits on top or your cup, one filter in and a scoop or two of coffee. Pour water just under the boil over grounds. Yumm. Not very cost effective but damn good.

9. I have used that for YEARS. It is more cost effective; nothing to clean...
makes the ONE cup I will drink... easy to use. And I don't make more than I need. No coffee pot to clean.

I was lured in by the coffee pot that grinds and brews and it's TOO DAMN MUCH WORK.

Pulled the little brown plastic Melita back out. Now the other one is gathering dust.

5. Dunno
I use my coffeemaker to make TEA....LOL!

Just a couple-three teabags in where one ordinarily puts coffee, and viola!

I prefer tea over ocffee, because, being on a diet, I cant have sugar or NutraSweet. I'm on Atkins.

I think black coffee is gross, but I can drink tea, and quite enjoy it without any sweetner. Can't do that with coffee. but thanks for asking.

Haven't heard of this new pressure coffee maker yet, but, if one can use it to make tea, I might have to try it.

6. SPLENDA!
If you have been forgoing sweeteners due to the Atkins diet I highly recommend this product. It is made from real sugar with the carbs removed (no, I have no idea how) and it tastes great, especially in beverages. Trust me on this, diabetics everywhere love thgis stuff because they, like you, have to carefully watch carbs. It should be in any supermarket, right next to the other artificial sweeteners.

7. Speaking of Splenda...
if you aren't on Atkins, but just want to watch the calories, try it sprinkled on fresh strawberries! It's so finely ground that it gives an extra sweet nuance to the berries...

10. I had a splenda moment... and almost spit the juice out.. I had bought
the new low carb white cranberry juice and took a big drink and was horrified.

I just couldn't stand the taste.. and I don't trust it.. there are too few studies done on it so far.

12. I bought Splenda on the internet for almost 2 years
before it appeared in the store. You can cook at high temperatures with it too. Hey, that reminds me - I'm going to go look for a Splenda cheesecake recipe.

8. But if it takes single serve pods of coffee that only Millstone & Folgers
makes-- aren't we sort of using a cadillac brewing system for Huego type coffee? I mean, Folgers is not exactly premium coffee?

19. I use my drip machine...
to heat up water to pour into the press... also keeps a whole pot of water hot in case you need a few more cups.
