Msgr. Herman J. Niebrugge: 1930-2004

Today is a sad day in central Illinois, one marked by the passing of our beloved pastor, Msgr. Herman J. Niebrugge. Msgr. Niebrugge passed away in his sleep last evening at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor-vehicle accident.

Well done, our beloved and faithful friend! Though blurred by tears, we nonetheless see clearly the blessing your life has been to each and every one of us. May the angels see you to Heaven, where in the flesh, you shall see the Son at the right hand of the Father.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

He was doing quite well last evening, laughing and visiting with family and some friends, but shortly after 11:00 his heart just stopped beating, and he was gone. I'm so glad now that I went to visit him this weekend, and had the chance to let him know how much I loved him.

He passed away in his sleep, the result of a heart attack or massive stroke, they think. It was very unexpected.
