Store Owner Opens Shop - Finds Legs Dangling From Kitchen Ceiling

CLEVELAND -- Attala Abboushi couldn't believe his eyes when he opened his store and saw legs dangling from the kitchen ceiling.

"I thought I was dreaming for a second," Abboushi said.

Police say a would-be burglar got stuck trying to bypass the small grocery's alarm system by breaking in through the vents over a kitchen stove.

After discovering the man shouting for help Sunday, Abboushi called police and firefighters, who cut the vent apart to free the man. The suspect told police he was stuck for four or five hours.

He was taken to St. Vincent Charity Hospital to be treated for cuts and bruises. He was later taken to the city jail.

Maybe a year ago?

Back in '97 there were three stories of people trying to break into homes throught the chimneys. All of them got stuck and arrested.

some dirtbags tried that crap at my shop last year. Cut a hole through the roof but falling ceiling tiles set off the alarm. Love those 4 am wake up calls. What a fucking mess!

4. About 15 or so years ago...

...when I was living in the Miami area a shopkeeper who was fed up set up a booby trap for burglars. A burglar was killed by the booby trap and the shopkeeper went to jail for manslaughter.

With the present case, I'm surprised the burglar isn't threatening to sue.
