computer gurus - Windows Media Player help, please |

I hate WMP, btw. But I need it to listen to some streaming audio. I have never, ever been able to use it for streaming audio or video. I'm updated to the latest version, latest codecs, everything. I can stream with Realplayer, WinAmp, QuickTime, no problem, so it's not my firewall.
It doesn't give me an error. It just sits there. Any ideas?
On edit: I'm running Win98 SE (can't afford an upgrade just yet), using ZoneAlarm.
And, no, I can't afford to switch to a Mac, and don't have the know-how to go Linux. Thanks anyway. :D

on my laptop. But I am pretty convinced it is a firewall issue (I use Norton Internet Security Professional). Try turning off your firewall temporarily to see if that works... It often does for me. By the way, the firewall was not an issue for other players either-- just for WMP.
My home desktop machine still runs Windows 98. Video is very hit and miss under it, because it doesn't seem to want to run all the javascripts, no matter what I've tried.

I need to edit, I'm running Win98SE (I know, but the processor I have won't do anything else, still waiting for the money to upgrade.)
