them pointy like that with razor-sharp threads. It allows them to be screwed straight into a solid material (like wood, sheetrock or plastic) without any pilot holes.
I can't be sure that it isn't torx-driven. They're usually not though because they're used in the building trade and most contractors haven't got the right equipment for torx. Phillips provides more control than flat in terms of driving a screw straight.

I feel strongly about head.
