Ugh! F*cking flight delays!!
My roomie is flying from NYC (JFK) to Burbank tonight. She was supposed to have left JFK at 6:40 pm EST. Obviously, that didn't happen. She's still sitting at JFK. The flight is now scheduled to leave at 11:30.

That sucks bad enough, but I have to pick her up from the airport...at 3:04 am! FUUUUUUCK!

And I'm not even convinced it will leave at 11:30. They've changed the departure time at least 5 times already.

GRRRRRRRR.

1. Weather here in the east is nasty
I'm pretty sure that its better for your roomie's plane not to fly through violent t-storms..I know flight delays are aggravating but its been a bad day weatherwise out here.

2. Yeah, I know there's stuff in CT
but she says it was perfectly fine in NYC earlier this evening...when she was SUPPOSED to have left. Now I'm afraid she's going to get stuck there due to weather that she should have been able to avoid.

Bastards.

7. Yeah, that's true...
but her flight seems to be getting fucked over more than others.

Her sister-in-law is actually flying out of JFK to Las Vegas. They were supposed to have left at the same time. The SIL's flight was delayed, but not as much as hers.

The ridiculous thing is that they're flying the same airlines and JFK-Vegas/JFK-Burbank would be almost exactly the same flight plan.

5. Yeah, she is
Burbank is a TINY airport. She'd have to wait forever for a cab. And LA cabs are ri-fucking-diculously expensive. That is, if she could even get one at 3 am, which I'm not entirely sure she could...

Plus, I have to live with her. :P

11. Make her walk! You'll have a few more hours of not living with her!

17. Hahahaha, yeaaahh...
I'd live a few more hours, but I'd be dead as soon as she got home. ;)

No, really. I would consider it if there was ANY possibility of there being transportation at the airport. But Burbank airport doesn't have flights between 10pm and 6am (excepting delayed flights, obviously). The airport will be a taxi-less ghost town at 3 am.

6. Be careful going into the LAX area at 3:00 am.
Keep your eyes open, be aware of your surroundings, and car doors locked.

well, if they were trying to leave JFK, apparently you wouldn't be sending them anywhere!

(although this is a different airline, and yours may well be fairing better...)

9. Tell her to grab a bench and wait, or take a cab...
or go hang out at the airport bar until she gets there?

wait, that's a bad idea...

sounds sucky any way you look at it huskerlaw!

:hi:

12. I would consider that if she was flying into LAX
but she's flying into Burbank. It's a tiny airport and the last scheduled flight arrives at about 10 pm. It's going to be a complete ghost town at 3 am. It closes down from 10 pm to 6 am ever day due to noise ordinances. No cabs, no other people...just her plane-mates and essential airport personnel.

I think she'd completely snap if she had to deal with a connecting flight!

Oh, that's awful, for both of you...

I'm guessing you might want to take a nap...

Damn, 3 AM...

14. I've been trying to take a nap
but I can't seem to fall asleep even though I'm tired.

Fabulous.

I feel worse for her though. At least I'm not stuck in an airport. And 3 am will feel like 6 am to her. Ick.

19. Catch some sleep until later and then go get her. Look at the bright side, traffic should be light.
at 3:00 AM

20. This is true
There will be even less traffic than there was at 5 am...when I dropped her off at the airport LAST Saturday.

Man, she owes me. ;)

21. Same thing happened to me recently.
I was flying from Dallas back to NYC. The flight was supposed to be at 1:00 PM, which meant I would land at 5:30 PM NYC time.

There were some minor weather problems, so dozens of flights were delayed or canceled, including mine.

I finally got to fly out at 8:00, so I landed in NYC at midnight, then had to wait 90 minutes to get my one checked bag back.

It was 2:00 AM when I got home.

22. Uuuugh. That sucks!
I understand that things happen beyond the airlines' control, but there are very few things more frustrating than sitting at an airport waiting for a plane that never seems to take off.

23. They kept saying they couldn't find another plane.
I didn't say it out loud, but I was thinking, "You're a fucking airport! You're surrounded by planes! Cancel a flight to Bumfuck, Montana, and get us to NYC!"
