Just got my Achilles tendon repaired along with a bone spur removed. What do I have to look forward to for the next 4-6 weeks? Anyone out there with any experience with this

No experience with that, but just do what your doctor(s) tell you.
I hope you recover quickly. And try to get some quality couch time in.

3. not sure about the bone spur, but my best friend snapped BOTH |
|
Achilles tendons (thankfully not at the same time, though one year right after the other) and she didn't have pain, it was just a hassle b/c she had to be in a cast of sorts. Time went by quickly for her, and I hope it does for you, too.
Do you have friends/family who can help you out, at least the first week or so? My friend adapted quickly, but during the initial adjustment period she needed some assistance.

4. I have never had the bone spur problem |
|
but I broke the tibia just above my right ankle about 36 years ago. In order to keep the anxle in place they had to go in and put a screw in the tibia. I was in knee cast (plaster back then on crutches for about 4 weeks. They then put on a walking cast for another 2 (I think that was the time rame. It was fun :sarcasm: getting around campus ( I was in college).
About 18 years ago I was just getting on the escalator coming up from the subway but had my mind ont the meeting I was headed for and thought of something I needed. In a split second I had ivoluntarily turned to go back - too late- I sprained my left ankle and tore all the ligaments in that ankle. I had a fibergalss cas on for about 4 or 6 weeks. I would much rather have had the plaster cast.
Follow orders, eat your medicine, and get better.

6. I had bad inflamations |

in both Achilles tendon simultaneously.
Be VERY careful rehabing-it is quite easy to overdo the exercise and set your progress back-they are easily re-injured.
It will hurt and it will take time to recover, but be patient and don't try to rush it.
I keep repeating this, because I tried to recover rapidly, and ended up taking several extra months because I stretched the tendons too much.
A lot depends on factors such as your age, what kind of shape you were in before the surgery, etc.
Good luck, you will get better.
