No matter how often I see it...
"Apollo XIII" gives me chills, and the ending makes me cry...

One hell of a fantastic movie!

If you haven't seen it...

You've missed out on one of the best made films ever!

:woohoo:

2. My dear greenbriar!
I was laughing at the moment when they were told that their taxes could wait...

Since they were definitely out of the country!

Agreed.....AWESOME movie!

3. It is a great movie
Every time that I see it, those four "silence" minutes are real intense, even though we know how it ends.

Speaking of great movie - yesterday we saw, again, "Oh Brother Where Art Thou." I really think that this is a great Americana. Clooney at his best.

4. They are so intense!
I never heard any explanation of why it took longer than they expected to get through those minutes...

Now, I haven't seen "Oh Brother Where Art Thou." I keep hearing good things about it, though!

I'll have to add it to the list...

I love Clooney!

5. A very well-crafted movie.
I read "The Right Stuff" recently, but haven't seen the movie yet. It came out about 12 years before Apollo 13.

6. My dear Starbucks Anarchist!
It is very well done!

Funny thing...I was mixing up some similar parts between the two!

I thought the scene where Johnson wanted to talk to the wife of one of the astronauts was in "Apollo 13" and my husband told me, no, it's in "The Right Stuff."

He thought it was funny!

I thought it was logical!

They do have quite a few themes in common, after all...

Nice to see you tonight!

7. A great movie
I was remembering a funny moment from it. When Alan Shepard was sitting in the capsule - or whatever it was - waiting for the liftoff and said that he "had to go" and the technicians finally told him to do so, even though they were concerned what the liquid would do to all the wires connected to him..

The other day, when the news was about the toilet malfunction in the International Space Station, it was mentioned that when Alan Shepard had to do, he did in his pants..

8. Never saw the movie ... but boy do I remember the flight!
Glued to the TV set waiting for news as they passed around the moon and radio contact was lost ... waiting ... waiting ... eying the clock ... waiting ... I think I really did cry with relief when we heard the chatter begin again

9. My dear struggle4progress!
It is one of those movies that has the ability to transport you completely out of yourself...

I give it my highest recommendation!

It is so real, that I cry at the ending too...Just as I did at the time!

I'm sure it's out on DVD...

You won't be sorry!

10. Have you seen October Sky?
Another "based on a true story" film involving rockets.

11. My dear pokerfan!
Oh, yes!

I sure have!

Another greatly loved film! Also highly recommended...

It was based on a book by the protagonist...

Beautifully made and adapted from the book...

I think (IIRC) that I have a couple of books by that author, whose name escapes me now...

Thanks for mentioning this one!

12. Homer Hickam
The film was based on 'Rocket Boys.' It's a great read and I need to read some more of his stuff.
