I ran my marathon!
I haven't been around much due to Flaming Primary Insanity, but I thought I'd let you know how it all worked out.

I ran the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon yesterday, one of ca. 20,000 runners and one of 8,000 Team in Training runners. My time was 5:47, slower than hoped-for due to a knee injury, but I finished without aggravating the problem further, which is what counts. I also raised over $3,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. So, all goals achieved! I am very happy.

I also won a t-shirt from the Marines. At the pre-race expo they had a chinning bar and were giving away shirts to any guy who did 20 pullups or woman who held herself above the bar with underhand grip for 70 seconds.
I demurred but they persuaded me to try. Lo! I held myself aloft for 70 seconds and lowered myself slowly! I was astonished. I had NO IDEA I could do that. I am now fit enough for the USMC, be afraid, be very afraid :-)

I got some donations from some of you, and cheers from others. Thanks for your support. I urge you all to give Team in Training a try if you feel the need to try a marathon something. They are awesome!

8. Congrats, Ellen!!
You TOTALLY rock!! :yourock:

:applause: I applaud your accomplishment and valuable contribution.

I have a friend doing the CA AIDS Ride this year and they just left out of my area today. Makes me inspired enough to consider doing it again, after my first experience back in '00.

It's such a good vibe to be around all those people doing something great for a great cause.

:grouphug:

I commend you, once again. :toast:
