had an argument about Carey. She likes her, and I said I had too many glass valuables in the house that could conceivably get damaged if I listened to her. It went over my SIL's head completely.

The song from Titanic is a total suckwad number.

Her French stuff is better, and she has a very good voice for a pop singer. Much better than Madonna or Britney.

I have extremely broad taste in music, training in music, and for a while was a music reporter. The idea that I "dont' get" something music-related is hilarious. It's also presumptuous and rude.

30. Thanks :)
Actually, the few conservatives I hang out with all like Joplin. Then again, they're all old enough to have seen her live and remember the show. If I had seen her live, maybe my attitude would be a bit different.

Truth be told, I'm not a Springsteen fan, either. :hide:

I like Foghat, Iron Maiden, Rush - and, I'm not proud to say, that's pretty much half of the bands I like right there. I'm not much of a music fan, truth be told.

I'll take your word on Tedeschi, thanks for the tip :hi:

Most of them would be pathetic without electronic enhancement. I have a particular dislike of the ones with the little girl voices who snuggle up to the microphone and think that distorting their vowels, going off key, and not keeping up with the accompaniment makes them the equal of the great jazz singers.

Hands down. In her song "Everywhere," every line ends with "uh." Listen to it again if you don't believe me. Observe:

Turn it inside out so I can seeuh
The part of you that's drifting over meuh
And when I wake you're never thereuh
But when I sleep you're everywhereuh
You're everywhereuh

Just tell me how I got this faruh
Just tell me why you're here and who you areuh
'Cause every time I look you're never thereuh
And every time I sleep you're always thereuh
