So, I saw the psychiatrist today...
and apparently I don't have asperger syndrome. (Shit, I really wish I could change my username now.)

But, the team that assesed me does think that I have sensory integration disorder, non-verbal learning disability, and some kind of mild anxiety disorder. So I'm not a total ambulance chaser - ha. Especially since the first two can mimic autistic speactrum disorders. The NLD and sensory integration disorder aren't formally diagnosed at this point, since they're not qualified to do that, so I'm being referred for more assesments.

It's kind of a relief, I suppose. Except now I feel like I have no excuse for being disliked. Or dislikeable, as the case may be. :(

1. You are going to be alright.
If we all went to psychiarists we would all have some kind of syndrome. Its call life and everyone deals with it in different ways.I think once you turn about 23 everything will smooth out.Sometimes people need to live on their own and have their own space.I seen some of your posts about your parents and I can tell that it gets to you. When you get more older, you will understand them more.I understand my parents more now too.

Yet, somehow, it didn't cross my mind. Go figure.

3. The first two Dx most of the popuation has in varying degrees
They don't tell you that as most people wouldn't pay to learn that.

Mild anxiety disorder means you need a better way to deal with stress.

5. Not formally, that's why I'm being referred.
However, she said that is likely what's going on.

Sigh. I know. I fail at life right now.

6. You know AspieGrrl, I don't always respond to your threads, but I always read them....
Not only are you likeable, but you're also open-minded, intelligent, and wise beyond your years. If my daughter grows up to exhibit the many qualities I admire when I read your threads, I will be the luckiest mom on this planet.

11. High school kids.
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 10:55 PM by AspieGrrl
Although most of them are civil to my face (which is more than I could say a few years back), apparently a bunch of people talk shit about me behind my back. I'm also in a bunch of gifted classes at my school (My IQ is apparently quite high - could've fooled me), and I have a reputation for being "the slow one". I get fairly mediocore grades (a bare A-minus average), despite allegedly being smart, which is depressing as all fuck. Oh yeah, and I have a really awkward walk/run (people used to say I "run like a retard), so if I'm kind of walking/running because I'm late for class, people will often point and/or laugh. (Yeah. Serously.)

13. "I don't have asperger syndrome." YAY!
this is good news!

all sorts of people don't like me. all sorts of people find me disagreeable.

do not try to find a disorder or syndrome or a problem with YOU... to explain why people DON'T GET YOU YET... these people are not your audience... these people just don't understand you yet.

you don't need to justify their ideas for what they define as RIGHT/CORRECT. screw that. this is your life. not theirs.

you are fine. you are perfect. you are you. don't overthink THEIR problems. i know it's hard, you are young. you just don't understand how amazing you are yet. no one could, not even you.

as i have lived my life i have discovered all sorts of people that got to understand me and absolutely love me. its hard to tell someone going through what you are going thorough, but just live your life as you see/feel it. with confidence. they don't know you. you know you.

i know einstein, picasso, tesla, brubeck, etc. were not understood. i'm not saying you are of such greatness. but you sure could be. try looking at things through that light. my guess is that a different vision might make things clearer.

be happy...

16. Are you going to change your screen-name? You are not disliked here.
I don't know why you say that. You seem to have quite a few friends. Not everyone is meant to be friends with us. Me I make friends with about 1 out of 50 people I meet. I have some communication issues so I need a pal who shares my values and can bubble when they talk. That is just me.
