Which is the cuter way that cats ambulate?
Dit-dit-dit-dit-dit or padadump-padadump-padadump-padadump-padadump?

1. Padadump- padadump- padadump- padadump- padadump suggests that
more than one cat is ambulating. Dit-dit-dit-dit-dit is just one cat trotting through the kitchen looking for food. And THUMPITYTHUMPITYTHUMPITYTHUMPITYTHUMP is several cats running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night. All of them are cute. But cutest of all is this:

Cat wearing shoes goes slap-slap-slap-slap-slap.

2. i read that cats' back paws land in the same place as their front paws
leaving fewer footprints or something.

7. I believe the close "footprint" of cats
disturbs less vegetation during an ambush charge, thus creating less alarm.

Unlikely they'd worry about sight-trackers.

6. I like dit-dit-dit for my big cat - it's kind of cute for a 20+ pounder to be so dainty
However, our little cat does padadump-padadump with her back half rotated out about 45 degrees - she almost runs sideways - so that's cutest for her...

12. My favorite is the skitter skatter skitter skatter
when they're trying to go faster than they can, and their paws are slipping out from under them after finding no traction, but they just keep on a'skitterin. :)

15. What about totally silent?
I have one cat, part Maine Coon, who is absolutely silent when he walks around the house. I guess it is the hair around his foot pads that makes him so silent. The other one makes that dit-dit-dit noise as his claws hit the floor.
I love them both. :loveya:

since cats is stealthy critters.

It's just what I hear in my head when she's ambulatin'. :)

17. Most mornings, it's...
"Padadump-padadump-padadump-padadump-scrabble-scrabble-scrabble-THUD"

That's the basic sound of my dear little Spaz careening full-speed into the nearest wall. Now, this wall in question has, in fact, been in this exact same place since Spaz was brought into the apartment as a kitten. It's never shown any sign of movement, and after a year, you'd think she'd be well aware of its presence. And yet, her breakneck runs invariably fail to take this wall into account...

Lord help her, she's just not too bright. Aptly-named, and I love her to death, but none too bright.
