6. Advice on the Mansion

Have fun, enjoy the ambiance, don't get drunk. If the invitations say no pictures, then be really discreet with your cell phone (security will make you delete the pictures from your cell or digital camera if they catch you, and then make you check it for the rest of the party). If the invitations don't see that, then take lots of pics!

If you run into Hef, shake his hand and thank him for the party.

I've been four times (twice to evening parties), and it's not a take-your-pick orgy like people think. Many guys *coughGeoffreyRushcough* assume they're going to easily bag a hot blonde, but that's not necessarily the case. Really, it's more like an expensive cocktail party, except there's a dozen models wearing body paint. (maybe not for this fundraiser though)

Now like any other party, there's a chance you might hook up. Given it's the Mansion, probably a better-than-normal chance. Just don't assume it's automatic. However, a lot of people will probably love your accent.

7. Thanks for the advice. I stopped drinking 14+ years ago, w/ the help of cannabis and 12-steps.

Thank the Goddess for the Third Tradition. ("The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.")

In addition, as a former AIDS program director in TN (and having done further AIDS research at CDC), I try not to pursue sex with strangers in high-traffic areas. (I guess that means I'm unfit to serve in Congress.)

Truth be told, since I'm now 58, I find that the most attractive thing about women is what lies between their ears and within their hearts. I'm not blind, but (thankfully) I have changed my priorities a bit as my hairline recedes and my testicles float in the bathtub (how one of my uncles described getting old.)

I do look forward to visiting the Playboy mansion because of its iconic place in our culture and because I expect to meet lots of interesting people there at the MPP gala. And my invitation says that we are allowed to take pictures, so I hope to borrow a camera that will produce postable pictures when I return.

Really appreciate you sharing your experiences there. I know it will be fun.

Who knows, it might also add some ballast to my ball-sack. That would be nice too.

For good conversation, maybe chat up some of the celebs (male and female) in attendance. Artist Olivia de Berardinis is often in attendance, and I spoke with Weird Al Yankovic (a really bright guy) briefly.

Or just do as I did and say "I can't fucking believe I'm here" every five minutes to your friends :P
