2. Why do you ask?
What is meant by brittle is that it is very difficult to predict what your blood sugar is going to do. Usually people can eat and take their meds and get on an even keel if they stick to the regimen. Brittle diabetics can be ridgid like clockwork in their disipline and still have dangerous highs and lows.

There are meters that can be implanted and they do repeated measurements and injections as needed.

4. Thanks.
I will look for the meters and post a link. Medtronic is one of the ones I am most familiar with, but last I heard they didn’t have the automated duel action.

5. According to my daughter's endo,
most type 1's are considered "brittle" once they come out of the honeymoon stage. Non brittle type 1s are usually brittle ones who eventually discovered a routine that worked better for them.

My daughter was a brittle as they come for several years. She eventually shaped a regimen that seems to fit her lifestyle. That was no small feat!

6. Here is a link to David Mendosa’s pump page.
He gives information on Medtronic’s Paradigm Real Time Pump. I remember another one, but he doesn’t mention it, so I will have to think and then PM you or post. http://www.mendosa.com/pumps.htm

8. Thanks...I'll take a look...
My daughter has been on the Animas pump for several years - it's done wonders to help with her control.
