1. LOL... WKRP in Cincinnati (Thanksgiving episode) |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 02:24 PM by BigMcLargehuge
Mr. Carlson (played by Gordon Jump)
They were having a turkey giveway and dropped a gross of the things into a shopping center parking lot from the helicopter. Les Nessman, doing the on the spot commentary, did a play by play that mirrored the Hindenburg announcer...
Oh the humanity!

Les was reporting from the scene, and Carlson said this line to Herb I think. It was the last line of the show.

14. Nessman's "call" of the promotion |
|
“It's a helicopter, and it's coming this way. It's flying something behind it, I can't quite make it out, it's a large banner and it says, uh - Happy... Thaaaaanksss... giving! ... From ... W ... K ... R... P!! No parachutes yet. Can't be skydivers... I can't tell just yet what they are, but - Oh my God, Johnny, they're turkeys!! Johnny, can you get this? Oh, they're plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenberg tragedy has there been anything like this!”

The sanctimonious prig on that show---the guy with the feathered '70s hair? Don't know his name (or the actor's name), but GOD, I loathed him. So fey, so self-righteous. His goddamn plaid-flannel shirts, always open at least one button too many.
Dr. Johnny Fever rules!

25. Probably the best single episode of any sitcom ever |
|
Turkeys can fly, btw - at least wild ones can, for short distances. They seem pretty awkward when they do it, though. Domestic turkeys probably can't get airborne, I don't know. But dropped from a great height, I think both varieties would go - SPLAT!
Another hubba-hubba for Jan Smithers.
