They're Back... Remember Earth Shoes?
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 03:55 PM by supernova
They were all the rage for us Earth Goddesses when I was in Jr High. :D Very comfy for walking and correct posture since the heel is lower than the ball of your foot.

I may get a new pair.

Anybody else used to wear these?

edit: And for those wondering, yes they do have vegan versions.

2. Truly, I thought they had gone out of business
and they sorta did too, but the web site says that the owners kept getting asked about them over the years, so they brought them back into production again. Cool.

I want to try them and see if they will help my flat back and tendency to lean forward.

6. I will probably still try them
for reasons mentioned above.

I will have to trust that the company is doing (mostly)right by their employees in China.

7. I had a blue suede pair
I remember lobbying my parents for a pair - that, a "hoodie" (all the rage when I was in junior high) and a mood ring. Eventually I did get all three.

8. they're still expensive and ugly.
I remember my girlfriend and me making a plaster cast of her grandmother's feet and taking it to the Earth Shoes store in Berkeley, CA. Granny loved her earth shoes, my girlfriend loved her earth shoes.

Eventually that girlfriend talked me into getting a pair. then I broke my back in 5 places in an auto accident. My doctors, 2 of them, all told me to never wear earth shoes under any circumstances. they suggested I go bare foot as much as possible which was much better for my back. I never found Earth shoes very comfortable.

9. I bought my Earth Shoes from the guy who sold dope to Dan Quayle.
Seriously.

Before he got into trouble for a series of bombings in Speedway, Indiana he owned the local Earth Shoe Store.

15. What shoes are good for that condition?
I have it, too, but can't find anything that works that doesn't require a second mortgage to purchase!

19. I ended up with Nike Shox (ew) as a sneaker
with an additional insert.

I also find that my crocs are really comfortable.

There are some products that help alleviate the condition at the Vermont Country Store:
www.VermontCountryStore.com

I hope you feel better :pals:

24. Thanks!
And yup, crocs are about the only thing I wear anymore.

I found a good Asics running shoe, too, but those are not as good for work.

Thanks for the link! :hi:

13. I thought I saw them in WholeFoods but couldn't bring myself
to purchase shoes at the grocery store. It brings back those memories of buying my gym shoes at Safeway for $3.99 and having to sit in the middle of the isle to try them on.

Thanks for the links!

18. Yes, but
I already don't buy lots of stuff from China. So like people who have to shop at wally world because that's what their town has and they can afford, I may have to forgo my ethics in search of better posture.

25. My docs PA told me to buy them for my plantar fasciatis
and I spent $200. Then I ended up at the podiatrist who told me the worst shoe I could put my foot in was the Earth shoe
