Airlines May Start Treating Passengers `Like Freight' (Update1)
June 3 (Bloomberg) -- Imagine two scales at the airline ticket counter, one for your bags and one for you. The price of a ticket depends upon the weight of both.

That may not be so far-fetched.

1. Even though I'm tiny and would almost certainly save money, that sucks.
I'm fine with charging people who don't fit in one seat for two- I've been half crowded out of mine by some people's overflow, and I'd rather not be put in the position of paying for more seat than I get and effectively subsidizing somebody who takes up all of their seat and half of mine.

However, provided somebody fits in the danged seat, normal human variation in weight is just a cost of doing business.

3. I got weighed
In San Juan to St. Thomas.

Was with 2 friends; one got left behind until the next flight because they didn't weigh the right amount. I offered to stay, but it was no no no - that would throw off the weight and balance.

Next flight was in 30 minutes, so no big deal.
