I've been spreading mulch after work every day and said to my husband the other night "Remind me someday to hunt down the masochist who decided to plant the Blue Spruce, the juniper and the rose bush in the same freaking tiny little space and didn't plant a ground cover under them!" Grumble, grumble.
Your post made me laugh.

and it brings tears to my eyes every single time I remember how my little Green Meanie picked a lovely bouquet of fresh spring flowers out of our garden for me on Mother's Day.
Before placing them in a vase he excitedly brought them over for me to sniff... which I did... before realizing that about half of the added greenery was poison ivy! x(

4. That's what those foam squares to kneel on are for. |
|
Fancy version: http://www.gardeners.com/Garden%20Kneeler/GardenersEssentials_Cat,35-662,default,cp.htmlI got a one-inch thick foam rectangle to kneel on at Big Lots! for $3, I believe. Does the same thing.

5. I thought about getting on a pair of blue jeans first, then thought, |

Nah, I'll be fine wearing shorts.
BTW - did you know milk takes care of the rash from nettles? Just dampen a cloth and wipe the area affected. Of course, then you're going to smell like sour milk!

before it gets HOT and pick up where I left off when I got sick.
on Memorial Day, I got out early and weeded a big section of one of my flower beds. Then I cleaned up and went to Sears to order my new refrigerator to get the sales tax savings. That night I started to feel quite bad and was down with a very nasty cold/URI/CRUD something until Saturday, but I have had to be out early every day since so missed the good morning time before the heat hits.
so I look forward to getting out under my shade tree, finishing that weed patch and digging up the daffodils that need to be divided, separate and replant them.
I also need to weed and feed my rosebushes and put fresh mulch, yank up the pansies from my big flower pots and replace with either petunias or begonias. I sure hope I feel like doing all of this.
Edited to Add: my garden hazard is FIRE ANTS

8. I get sick from going out in the heat and pulling weeds. |
|
for more than five minutes. Then I have to run inside, cool off, drink some cold water, and stop puking.
