Oh oh, current boss wants to go for drinks this weekend
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 05:05 PM by HEyHEY
Bad news...looks like everything IS cool. But I still have this other job going, however I don't know if it's for sure. I don't want to go for drinks because if I get the job and quit....... you know the rest. If there's any kind of male bonding thing going on it'll make it very hard. SHould I go? WHat do you think?

1. Nope...make an airtight excuse...

Seriously, come up with something foolproof.

Drinking with people from work is bad idea when you are about to leave...

Keep your reference in tact.

2. You think too much. Go with your gut.
I have never regretted it when I went with my gut instinct, and always regretted it when I overanalyzed. You won't find the answer here; I suspect you know it. Follow your instincts, and whatever you do, don't look back.

4. Is that a bad thing?
Guess you're the only one who can answer that. Hell, my guts have shit for brains, too, but that's no better than my brains - and a hell of a lot better than another part of my anatomy I have thought with over the years that has gotten me in a hell of a lot more trouble than my guts (if you get my drift. . .)

7. Just tell him you don't blur your professional and personal lives.
If he's any kind of professional, he'll accept and honour that.

Me, I don't "party" with the people I work with. A co-worker I had years ago summed it up pretty well:
"Hey, I gotta work witchu all, I DON'T have to party witchu!"
I thought he was strange then. Now I think he was a genius.

8. Just go.
Have some drinks and don't talk about work. What's the big deal?

10. OK. Fair enough.
Just say that you have to wash your hair, so you won't be able to go.

11. Don't go
Just tell him you don't drink. I've found it's not a good idea to go out with co-workers even if you plan on staying. I like to keep my work and personal life separate.
