Holy Zeus!1 I suppose everybody but me KNEW our Photobucket albums are OPEN

I clicked on Properties on an image here I wanted to copy, and it was a Photobucket. Just on a hunch I copied the part of the URL just before the (I guess) name of the image and pasted it into Google Search, and voila, there was somebody's ENTIRE 500+ images in their Photobucket albums.


Now, as much as most of us spill our guts about our private lives here, I assume we all STILL want a bottomline of confidentiality.

So why does Photobucket demand a password?!1

In your account settings, you can make t\your album either public or private

2. I think you can make the album's private.

People can randomly vote on your photos or comment, but not if it's private. Well, I take that back. I think that's the case w/ picturetrail, that's what I use, but I would assume photobucket would have a similar feature.

4. Update

O.K., I went into Options, which I had never used before and "Private" was already selected as the default.


However, there was another box that was Checked to allow (my) images to link back to my Photobucket album. Unchecked that.

5. I have a question

If I link to a photo in Photobucket (my own album), do I have to keep my album public?

8. I'm certainly no expert as can be seen. I assume if you specify "Private" in the Options

your album isn't public. But hopefully somebody who KNOWS will answer. Mind that other Checkbox ("link back to album").

7. You can make them private.

And a password is required because even if an album is public, images can't be uploaded/deleted/edited unless you log in.
