What is the difference between colors turqoise and teal?
Just an offhand question, does anyone have a link to a webpage that shows these colors. It seems to me they are basically the same, is this true?

1. You've stumbled upon the big secret
maintained by the Fashion and Home Design cabal:

There are only 8 colors.

Expect a visit from some VERY pissy designers.

4. Bingo!
Does everyone on DU write "cabal" and/or "meme" everytime they can?

Is it a conspiracy?

Do I not get the rules on this until I get a star?

3. Thanks, just what I was looking for
It appears teal is a darker shade, and turqoise is lighter.

14. Darker/lighter is the key
Blue-green is the hue, and there's a range within the hue depending on the percentage of one color or the other. More variations are created by adding white or black. Hues with white added are tints, hues with black added are shades. So sayeth my color textbook. IMO turquoise is a tint of blue-green, and teal is a shade of green-blue.
