For my *not so* little boy...
Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what you say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

---I hate the frustrated, sad, mad nights with him. I love the rocking that this lanky one lets me do afterward, to calm him. He is perfect. He is beautiful. He was wanted more than he knows. He is loved. He is mine. I used to sing this (and Rock A Bye Sweet Baby James) to him when he was small. I am melancholy, missing that...

1. have you heard Bonnie Raitt sing this?
oh, breaks my heart.

I'm sorry for the sadness and frustration; a young one shouldn't have to carry that grief. to the Grumpy family.

2. He said a heart hurting thing tonight...
He looked at me with watery eyes and said,"I can't do it. I'm not perfect. I try and I can't be." He doesn't know how perfect he is. He is better now, though. Sleeping peacefully while making the little "cuk cuk cuk" noises that are leftover from his days as a binky baby. We call it "imaginary pacifier". All is peaceful now and my report still isn't done. grr.

3. I know exactly how you feel
I tear up when I hear that song. Mine are 12 and 7 now, but they are still my "baby boys."

They are so incredibly precious, all.
