42. The "unique" spelling people get all kinds of upset when their name
or their kid's name is pronounced incorrectly. The exasperation of "It's pronounced X" and the implied "idiot" really piss me off. If they would spell it like a regular person maybe their lives would be easier.

2. Oh how sad.
I really don't like when people do that. It really isn't "unique" when it sounds the same and that poor girl will have to spend twice as much time dealing with the name takers of the world. In fact, it is almost like they have shortened the joy in her life.

11. My oldest's middle name is Corinne
My intent was for that to be her name...but you wouldn't believe the misspellings and mispronunciations that child has had to deal with. So much so she's decided to just go by her first name instead. I understand the 2 Rs instead of 2 Ns...I believe either is accepted spelling. But seriously... either way it's phonetic, ferchrissake!! x(

One job I could never have is the person who takes the name at the hospital, for birth certificate purposes. I would either be killed or fired because these names would crack me up so bad I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face or a civil tongue in my head

54. Oooh
sounds like that should be posted to the "Baby's named a bad, bad thing" website. Of course, we named our daughter Bethan, a lovely traditional Welsh name, which 95% of the world has decided should be pronounced "Beth Ann". No, if I wanted to name my daughter Beth Ann, I would have. Luckily we can fall back on the old "It's pronounced like Bethany, but without the y sound". We have also given her permission to correct, albeit politely, anyone who mispronounces her name, even adults. For a 5 year old that's pretty heady stuff.

really!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Shammgod

One of God's claims to fame is sharing an AAU team with Kobe Bryant. Shammgod has received credit for teaching Kobe the crossover.

Contrary to popular belief, God Shammgod is his birth-given, legal name. He took his mother's surname, Wells, at age five and was known as Shammgod Wells until reverting back to his legal name, which he shares with his father, just before enrolling at Providence College.

The first one's been mentioned a couple of times, but I'll just reiterate: pronounced 'Shih-teed'. Second and third are pronounced 'Oh-RON-jell-oh' and 'lay-MON-jell-oh', with the accent on the second syllable for both.

Yes, those are actual names. But you have to wonder what the hell kinda drugs they gave the mother when she was giving birth to make her not realize what she was spelling out on the birth certificate.
