My boys - Beau (the dog) and Frodo (the cat) absolutely adored each other.



Pretty soon I have to write about having lost my big old dog recently after 14 years together, but I'm not really ready for that yet.

They would take naps together and go on adventures together in the woods/swamp. There was another cat, but they weren't crazy about her, or she wasn't crazy about them maybe.

25. My Best Friend Charlie

I'm sitting here with my best friend Charlie right now and my heart is being ripped out because I know he won't be here next summer. I'm not sure how long he has to live.

Charlie was dx with Bone cancer about three weeks ago. For now the pain pills are helping him.
He is still eating and playing with the cat but day by day the cancer grows.

He will let us know when his time is near, until then I miss him and he is still here.
Charlie is 110 pounds of Rottie shepard mix. He's 8 years old. I'm sorry that we can't have more time together

38. I've been there.

The only thing to do now (as if you have to be told) is to make his and your final days some good ones. My dog Finn (for awhile we had Finn and Huck) was diagnosed with lymphoma. She degenerated fast, the vet prescribed some steroids temporarily to restore some of her vision so that we could have some final quality time...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your bud. I have a friend and mentor who has more than once said that it's a cruel trick of nature, this short life span of dogs. And it is.
