Teen Killed In Crash Hours After Getting License
BARBERTON, Ohio -- The last day of school ended tragically for a Summit County teen driver.
A young man headed for his senior year in high school was killed in a car crash on Wednesday, the same day he got his driver's license.
A state trooper said 17-year-old Zachery Jordan was a good kid but made some crucial mistakes: HE WAS DRIVING TOO QUICKLY FOR THE WET CONDITIONS WHILE TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE.
http://www.newsnet5.com/news/16514865/detail.htmlSeriously...given that so many people talk on their cellphones while driving, its surprising this doesn't happen more often.. given that so many young people have grown up seeing adults talk on the phone while driving, it isn't surprising that an entire generation thinks its perfectly acceptable. I've been driving for decades now- and I hate talking on the phone while driving- its incredibly distracting, and unless its a dire emergency, I'm not talking or listening until I'm out of the vehicle completely or idled/parked. Anyone with young drivers, or soon-to-be drivers.. please tell them that no conversation is worth getting in a (possibly fatal) crash.
