Help me name my new puppy.
She's fuzzy, about three months old, floppy-eared, white-pawed and long-tailed. She'll be a big outside guard dog.

Part Shepherd, part Great Pyrenees, and I think part Airedale.

All suggestions welcome.

13. Suki's cute.
My first dog was named So-Hi, after the little racist character who predated Snap, Crackle and Pop on the Rice Krispies box.

Then there was Lonesome, then Goliath.

I think I'm going to name this one either Rehab or Kudzu.

Isn't she a princess with an attitude? But this is why I recommended Shakespeare for dog names. Of course, literary characters in general are good. My own dogs have names of literary characters.

21. My vet said that dogs respond best to names which
are no more than two syllables in length, and which have a long vowel sound in the last syllable.

So, going with that theory:

Trixie
Kate or Katie
Lily
Baby
Shiloh (after Brangelina's kid, yeah)
Bailey

47. OK don't blame me
when you call out "Here, Bailey" and hundreds of dogs of all sizes and colors come running. :-)

My daughter named her half-chihuahua, half brittany spaniel Bailey last fall. Since then we've discovered that my neighbor's bichon is a Bailey, my friend's border collie is a Bailey, and practically every new dog we meet is named Bailey. Just like every other girl baby these days seems to be called Madison.

One of these days I'm going to do something really radical and different, and re-name my daughter's dog Rover.
