Downtime scheduled for this Saturday, June 14th

Democratic Underground will be unavailable for several hours starting around 9pm EDT Saturday evening. We are upgrading to a brand new database server that is much more powerful than our current database server in order to prepare for the increased traffic we expect for the general election, as well as the increased traffic we've already seen this primary season.

Unfortunately, we will have to shutdown the site in order to transfer all the data over to the new server. We expect that this process could take anywhere from 4 - 8 hours to complete, but it could potentially take less or more time.

Thank you for your patience while we do this work. The new server will mean increased speed and performance for everyone, as well as less time spent at level 1 and above.

My wife had a personal crisis a few years ago with tendinitis which caused her to lose her job. She has since become very bitter against God and has been hanging out with girls much younger than herself of questionable morals. ... She still goes out with guys alone which I've told her is completely inappropriate especially considering her past, but she says it's harmless meetings for coffee but I know what these men all want. Also, she tells me how much she resents me checking up on her and monitoring her phone and computer activity which I never did before the affairs. I've told her where the door is if she has a problem with it.

Check out their Christian Citizen Central forum sometime. It's about 80 percent Obama and 100 percent distortion that they swallow as if they were in Jonestown.

On those rare occasions when someone says "You might want to check your facts," they're either mocked or ignored.

Example, from a thread linking to something called "conservablogs.com" for proof that Obama isn't a U.S. citizen:

I'm not a fan of Obama, but this revulsion people have for him trips into the NONSENSE category. Buying into some hateful blog's ruminations is dumb. He IS a US citizen whether any of us like it or not. And, yes, he can be a dual. I am a dual and hold passports from two countries.

36. The server migration is completed

The work was completed much faster than we expected, and the new server looks to be running very smoothly. We will be testing it over the next several days to make sure everything is working as it should, but we expect to see a substantial performance boost.
