I gave up my bike for 5 days so other bikers can go to Rot
The Rot Rally, biggest motorcycle rally in Texas, is this weekend. When I dropped off my bike for repairs today the guy asked, "You aren't going to Rot are you?" I said no, and asked why. Apparently, a lot of hard core bikers - with fancy Harleys - need their motorcycles fixed before mine. Anyway, now I am without my bike until the weekend. But, in a strange way, I feel like I've bonded with my fellow bikers... by letting them move ahead of me in the repair line. Either that... or, I'm just a pushover! LOL

1. I would vote for the former - of course, you won't know if it's 'bonded' or 'pushover'
until you go to the bike shop needing a favor. If the guy says "she's cool, we can do that" then you know you're in. If he says "who? wants what?" then it's pushover...

5. hard-core bikers wouldn't need their bikes fixed "all of a sudden"
to go ride some festival, their bikes would be working in the first place.

6. That's sort of what I thought...
until I took a look around at some of those bikes.

They've been ridden hard, and long, by someone... that's for certain!

I should have taken a pic of how many old & tough looking motorcycles were lined up.

15. they won't bother you
You ride a Sportster, so you're fine. It's the guys that buy a $100k custom chopper just because they can that might get under their skin. Mostly, it's all in good fun ;)

10. That sorta depends on what the "all of a sudden" repair is
if this is a bike fest, they wanna make sure their bike is top top top. Taking to the shop might insure that. The harley might not be cleaned and revved up, but if it were going to a festival, it might be, yanno? *aside: Mezzo does not have a harley. She is a safe, volvo drivin' liberal, who is about to become a safe, prius driving liberal, even though I hate the way that car looks, I love it from the inside.

7. My family started a business (years ago) that leaves me in pretty good standing with bikers
It's called the Hideaway Leather Company. Most hardcore bikers love it. :hi:
