Ant Spray and Cats... how long to wait? |
|
Had to spray a bit of Raid Ant Spray in our kitchen, near the back door. Also went outside and sprayed a ton of it around the door and the base of the house where they seem to congregate when they want to come in the house. (We always seem to get ants trying to come in right after we mow the lawn, guess the mower is disturbing an ant hill.)
It's been about four hours. I didn't spray a lot in the house, just where they were right then, and really just two bursts of it was enough to kill the ants that were right there.
I've kept my cat in the bathroom this whole time, and opened the doors for a bit to get out some of the fumes. I can still smell it in there, but it's not nearly as strong as when I first sprayed.
But kitty is getting really unhappy with staying in the bathroom.
The other ant products I've used in the past say they are safe once the stuff has dried. But the Raid bottle (they didn't have my normal product at Wally World when I looked this time) doesn't say anything specific about when it's safe to let a cat in the area again.
How much longer must I imprison the kitty for his safety?

1. Put down a towel over inside area where you sprayed |

Better yet, a small rug So kitty won't get any on his paws.
And wash floor thoroughly in the AM.

2. Soapy water work well against ants, too. |
|
The soap covers their airways and they suffocate, and it's not harmful to the kitties.
I hope your kitty is ok.
