Ouchies
I pulled some muscle in Pilates the other night doing pushups I think. It feels like it's under my pectoral muscle on the right side of my chest. It hurts like a mother if I twist my upper body in either direction or if I take a deep breath. WTH is that and how long does it take to heal? Anyone know? It's hard to get comfy. :(

1. Coffee+aspirin+hot bath
Also, do stretches beforehand. The pec is a big muscle, so be prepared to wait a good while, maybe a week even.

21. aspirin, or Ibuprofen; Take about 3 IB (600 mg) Also put this in the bath water:
1/4 cup each :

sea salt
epsom salts
baking soda

run the bath as hot as you can stand it, dissolve the salts in the water and soak 20 minutes.

This was given to me by my massage therapist.
I got my sea salt at Big Lots, so it was cheap
Take the anti inflammatory med before you get in the tub.

Drink lots of water too

you can also get some of those topical analgesic creams, with either capiscin or salycilates ; they are excellent

You pulled your booby muscle?

That stinks. A bath does sound nice though.

Heal fast!

22. Arnica will aid in the discomfort and healing

Mainstream medicine also recognizes arnica. My friend had cosmetic surgery a couple of years ago, and her doctor prescribed arnica to take both before and after the surgery to reduce inflammation and hasten healing. She was able to purchase it at her pharmacy.

This stuff really does work. My son's legs are covered with bruises (because he's three and in day care) and last night I massaged them with arnica, and this morning the bruising was noticeably lighter. You may have to go to a health food store or natural foods co-op. We keep both the ointment and the blue pellet tube on hand, all the time.

23. The pain feels really deep.
More like under the pectoral muscle. I wonder if it would penetrate that deep?*

Thanks. I'll see if I can find it.

26. "that deep"
Yes, it can get there. You can also buy arnica in pellet/tablet form, and take it internally. With your injury, internal is probably better than external.

I hope it eases soon.

28. Just got over the same thing.

Took about 3 weeks to completely heal. Ibuprofen was a great help in terms of lessening the pain. The biggest healer, though, is time. And make sure you don't do much lifting, pushing, or pulling with your right arm; I made that mistake and think it prolonged the healing process.

You definitely have my sympathies.

seriously that sounds like something for Ibuprofen, and it will take 7 days and then if it isn't better go to a doctor.

:hi:

30. I did something last September pulling out
of the ground in our garden giant sunflowers. I heard a pop then pain, lots of pain. I could barely breathe. I dealt with it a couple days but finally had to go the emergency room because I was having trouble breathing because of the pain. I had torn the muscle lining between the lungs and chest wall or something like that, intercostal muscle tear. The only prescription to get better was rest and painkillers. If it keeps up, you may consider seeing your doctor.
