Katherine Heigl's "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl pulled herself out of the list of Emmy Award contenders as part of a protest about her character's development on the medical drama.

The actress, who won the Best Supporting Actress prize at the Emmys last year insisted she be left off the official ballot because she felt her character was awful during the most recent season of the show.

Heigl tells website GoldDerby.com, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and (so), in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention.

"I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."

She's also criticized Judd Apatow's (Knocked Up) writing ability. I'm sure she's becoming very well liked around Hollywood.

1. I think it's rather cool of her to do that.
And shows an amazing lack of ego on her part. Very refreshing.

2. I think it shows just the opposite.
Actors publicly calling out writers shows an amazing amount of ego, IMHO.

4. Most actors would NEVER take themselves out of the running for a big award.
So, yeah, less ego than usual. As for calling out the writers--she's right. They were WAY off their usual quality until the last 2 shows of the season (the finale was fantastic).

3. I really like her.
She really stands by her convictions, says what she feels, and stands by the people close to her, like the dude on the show who was outed...she really stood by her throughout that whole fiasco when another cast member made some homophobic remarks.

I've never watched the show but did see "Knocked Up".

I really like her. She isn't afraid to say the truth even if it offends people.
