Body-wash -------------- SCAM?????????!1
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 09:28 PM by UTUSN
O.K., years ago I latched onto Ivory bath soap, yeah, for the 99% pure, but also because some morning show yakker said that we should use a NON-scented soap so that the non-scent would not clash with deoderants. The FLOATING part didn't wash for me (I'm all shower, not bath).

So, that gives a clue to my LOW maintenance.

(Also, sidebar, for us hippies, somebody told us NOT to use anti-PERSPIRANTS because they BLOCK our (? not "arteries" -
PORES?!1) -- to use ONLY *deoderants*!1 (Also, the last part of the hippie revolution was, "Don't eat FRIED foods!1)

So, for years, for me & probably millions, there has been NO extra expenditure in the cleansitude industry for me.

Now, suddenly, I see clogs of consumers in the soap aisle sniffing the BODY WASH products.

O.K., I tried (consumed) it, the Old Spice brand, and ------------- I -------JUST DON'T SEE THE BENEFIT!1

Maybe I'm smell impaired, but is SMELL supposed to be the benefit?!1 Or silkiness of the skin, or starchiness of the body hair?!1 WHAT is supposed to be the deal?!1

I am coming to believe that this is just a capitalistic PLOY in a niche of the industry that has few other places to EXPAND.

Tell me about BODY WASH!1

1. I like it because bar soap tends to leave me feeling
dry. I don't get that feeling with certain brands of body wash. Also, I just like to wash with pretty smelling soap. :D

2. It's basically shampoo remarketed...for your body.
If you pick up a bottle of shampoo and a bottle of body wash and compare ingredients...it's the same stuff. For me, it's Irish Spring soap and then whatever scent (currently "Glow") I happen to be using. You're not missing out on anything. It's a big scam.

7. Doesn't get all Yucky
when you leave it in the shower like a bar of soap does. You can choose a nice scent and it makes your skin silky. If you use a bath sponge you can make it last forever.

8. it lasts longer than bar soap and no mess but you really to use it with one of these
bath scrunchy things, a little body wash goes a long way and there are plenty of brands that are low priced that work well.

these things are about $3.

12. For "low maintence" body care
try Dr. Bonners...the bottle has a bunch of religious stuff (maybe a little goofy!) but it's very basic. The kind I like best is peppermint and it's "all natural".(And the puffs mentioned upthread are recommended!). It makes you feel clean and refreshed, so maybe you won't worry about stinking so much!
The whole "smelling" thing is probably just a way for companies to make lots of money...they count on us worrying that we stink and we better do lots of stuff to cover it up.

14. It seemed like a good idea compared to a bar of soap that slips
out of your hand and down where you have to pick it up. So you get the body wash in a plastic bottle and it's foamy but you have to find a place to put the bottle so you can wash. In my experience the bottle falls down and you have to bend down to pick it up anyway. After awhile you have to dispose of it. I'm back to bar soap.
