Where can I get a good computer case (for a decent price)?
I built myself a computer about a year and a half ago. It's running fine except I made one mistake -- I bought a cheap case. It's a noisy POS and it sounds like the fans are rattling in there or something.

Anyways I was wondering if any of the computer people out there can recommend a decent, inexpensive case (or moderately priced) case.

Thanks

2. Get exactly what you want
from computer magazines which have sale forums for users.

There are many users wanting to get rid of their old equipment at rock bottom prices as they have upgraded. This way you can get useful spares as well as exactly the case you want. I have built two Mac Performa 6400's, which is a great old Mac model, which I use as back up machines for my local network, and I got them with a whole lot of interchangeble spares for less than the price of a single new case. It also gave me useful memory modules, a spare motherboard in excellent condition, an ethernet card, a spare monitor, etc. all in the same price.

And with this you are doing your bit in recycling.

3. I like Lian-Li
Here is my case:

www.lianli.com/11302001jcL_pc_case/jclpccase/jclpccase/pc60.html

It's not really cheap, I think it was $120.00, w/o a power supply !! But I know the owner of the shop I got it from and he threw me the side window , no charge. It's kinda loud when all the fans are going, but not too bad when i put them on low (low, med, high)plus the front USB is handy. Here is their main sight:

These are nice too , comparable in price to above:

I find a lot of stuff here:

This is more of a bulletin board, so caveat emptor !

7. I second the Lian-Li. Hand-tightened case screws and no sharp edges.

Besides, they're aluminum...they look cool :)

6. First, make sure it's not your hard drive making the noise
If it's just the fans, you might think about replacing only them.
On the other hand, you should be able to get a decent case for
very little. Any computer shop will have piles of them gathering
dust. But you have to make sure that it's the right form factor
for your mobo (you already know that).
I've seen good cases - ones that I have first hand knowledge of -
selling on Ebay for as little as $6.99!

I'm using one of their PSUs, a ST-11 and a HDD Silencer - It's almost impossible to hear the PC.

11. Newegg is probably the best and most reliable source I've used
And I've used ALOT of sources :).

I recommend a Chieftec case, cheap and very solid.

Lian-Li makes a great case but they're pricey.

12. Thanks for all the suggestions...
Newegg's a great site. That's where I purchased most of the stuff when I built my computer. I'm taking a look at the Chieftec cases. They seem like their moderately priced as well.
