STOCKTON, Calif. -- An Amber Alert was issued Thursday for a girl reported abducted from Stockton who may be with a man who police say is possibly a registered sex offender.

Police were searching for 12-year-old Angelica Marie Wylie, who was allegedly kidnapped at around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

She is 5 feet 1 inch tall, 115 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.


She was last seen wearing a gray shirt, dark blue jeans and black Vans shoes. She was wearing a white metal necklace that contains a white stone. She has a ponytail.

Police identified the accused kidnapper as 71-year-old Billy Don Potts, who the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department said might be a sex offender.

Potts was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 165 pounds and with gray hair and blue eyes. His vehicle was found abandoned.

Details were sketchy Thursday afternoon, but the sheriff's department said Potts was possibly last seen at the Food 4 Less store on Wilson Way in Stockton.
