Poll question: Mars Attacks!: Yea or Nay?
My personal vote is an enthusiastic "yea." A great spoof movie with a ridiculously amazing ensemble cast - Jack Nicholson (playing two roles), Glenn Close, Annette Benning, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Martin Short, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael J. Fox, Rod Steiger, Natalie Portman, Pam Grier, Jack Black, Christina Applegate, plus Jim Brown AND Tom Jones!

Wow. Just wow.

So, what say you Lounge?

1. One of the best movies of the 90s.
And by best, I mean really bad... but bad on purpose in a funny way. :)

Seriously, I don't own many DVDs, but that's one of 'em.

2. Oh, it's absolutely bad in a terriffic way!
I decided to break it out tonight, hence the poll...

I'm also a fan of the 1950's sci fi B-movies that are hilariously bad as well - Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, Earth vs. the Spider, so on and so forth...

10. Really?

I found it really forgettable, to the point that, well, I don't remember anything about it other than I thought it was just pretty, err... dumb.

Maybe I was just in the wrong mood when I watched it. I'll keep a look out for it on cable and give it another shot sometime.

12. I was thoroughly unimpressed when I saw it in the theater
I've been meaning to see it again for the last couple of years to see if my opinion has changed at all, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

13. I thought it was stupid.
Saw it during its first theatrical run and was very disapponted, considering the interesting cast. Sorry.

15. REALLY stupid

But I have watched it quite a few times and can't help liking it. I mean, any film that has both the most excellent Tom Jones and Jim Brown in it, and Jack Nicholson as both President (a flag-raising one, in the end) and sleazy Vegas hustler along with a miniaturized Rod Steiger and vaporized New Agers has to be an instant classic.

If it was actually made to be taken seriously, I'd be a lot less enamored with the thing.

Ack ack ack-ack aaack!

Could have led to a resurgence in Slim Whitman's career, too, if he were alive.
